Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has taken disciplinary action against 279 students over academic failure and exam misconduct. A total of 273 students were withdrawn for poor academic performance, while six were expelled for engaging in examination malpractice during the 2024/2025 First Semester.
These decisions were reached during the institution’s 120th Academic Board meeting held on April 17, 2025, at the Polytechnic’s Main Campus. The board reviewed and approved the semester’s results and then acted on misconduct reports.
According to reposts gathered by Educa.ng from Uredo Omale, Director of Public Relations and Protocol, the expelled students were found guilty of offenses investigated by the Central Examination Misconduct Committee, chaired by Dr. Grace Ehimony.
Two students, Daniel Onuche Gabriel from the Department of Business Administration and Yaro Abdullahi Nma from Accountancy, were expelled for impersonation, violating Section 4:35 (19) of the 2021 Revised Students’ Handbook.
Four Mass Communication students—Jaja Julietu, Usman Abdulgeniyu, Gimba Aminat, and Otitoju Taiwo Timilehin—were expelled for possessing unauthorized materials during examinations.
Rector Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman commended the committees responsible for investigations and called for greater academic focus among students. He reiterated the institution’s commitment to upholding academic excellence.
All affected students have been instructed to return all school properties, including identity cards, to the Security Unit before exiting the institution.
