Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of the Free State, South Africa, to boost international academic collaboration, research capacity, and technological innovation.
According to a statement released by Mr. Paul Adeagbo, Director of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations at OAUSTECH, the agreement will focus on key areas such as agriculture, science, and technology. The partnership is designed to foster collaboration through joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programmes, and coordinated capacity-building efforts including training sessions and academic workshops.
Educa.ng reports that, the MoU signing ceremony was held on OAUSTECH’s campus and was attended by top officials from both institutions.
Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, Professor Temi Ologunorisa, described the agreement as a gateway to expanding the university’s academic footprint globally. “This collaboration marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial journey aimed at fostering research excellence and innovation,” he said.
Prof. Anthea Rhoda, acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of the Free State, also emphasized the MoU’s significance. “It reflects our joint commitment to strengthening academic cooperation, sharing expertise, and promoting global best practices,” she added.
The partnership positions OAUSTECH as a rising player in international education and collaborative research in Africa.
